IELTS Speaking 1 (Accommodation & Hometown)

Where is your hometown?

Answer – My hometown is Amritsar, located in the northern part of India. It is renowned for its historical significance and is home to the Golden Temple, a major pilgrimage site for Sikhs. The city has a rich cultural heritage and is known for its vibrant bazaars, delicious street food, and welcoming people.

What do you like about it?

Answer – I love Amritsar for its rich history and culture. The Golden Temple is a serene place that offers peace and spiritual solace. The local food, especially dishes like Amritsari kulcha and lassi, is absolutely delicious. Additionally, the people in my hometown are warm and friendly, which makes the atmosphere very inviting and homely.

What do you not like about it?

Answer – One thing I dislike about Amritsar is the traffic congestion. During peak hours, the roads can become very crowded and it takes a long time to get anywhere. Additionally, the city has some issues with pollution, which can affect air quality. These factors sometimes make daily commuting a bit stressful and challenging.

How important is your hometown to you?

Answer – My hometown holds a very special place in my heart. It is where I grew up and formed many cherished memories with my family and friends. The cultural and historical significance of Amritsar has shaped my identity and values. It’s a place that always feels like home, no matter where I go in the world.

Do you think you will continue to live in your hometown?

Answer – While I have a deep connection to Amritsar, I am open to the idea of living elsewhere for better career opportunities and experiences. However, I do see myself returning to my hometown frequently to visit my family and reconnect with my roots. It’s a place I will always consider home, no matter where life takes me.

Accommodation

Tell me about the kind of accommodation you live in.

Answer – I live in a spacious apartment in a residential area of Amritsar. The apartment has three bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen, and two bathrooms. It’s on the top floor, so we get plenty of natural light and a nice view of the city. The building is relatively new and well-maintained, offering a comfortable living environment.

Does the place you live in have many amenities?

Answer – Yes, my apartment complex has several amenities. There is a small gym where residents can work out, a community hall for events and gatherings, and a playground for children. We also have a parking area, security services, and regular maintenance staff, which adds to the convenience and safety of living here.

Is there anything you would like to change about the place you live in?

Answer – While I am generally satisfied with my accommodation, I would like to have more green spaces and gardens within the complex. Having a park or a larger garden area would provide a nice place to relax and enjoy nature. Additionally, I think better soundproofing between apartments would improve privacy and reduce noise disturbances.

Do you plan to live there for a long time?

Answer – At the moment, I plan to stay in my current apartment for the foreseeable future. It’s close to my workplace and has all the amenities I need. However, if I find a better job opportunity or decide to move to another city for personal reasons, I might consider relocating. But for now, I am quite content with where I live.
